Two Workers Fall From a Roof in Coconut Creek

Coconut Creek Workers’ Compensation Lawyer

Broward County Fire Rescue personnel airlifted two roofers to North Broward Medical Center on February 27th after they fell about 30 feet through the roof of a building. Both workers were hospitalized in serious but stable condition.

Any type of job that requires one to work in high places is inherently dangerous. Falls can result in traumatic brain/spinal cord injuries, multiple fractures and even death. According to O.S.H.A., they are the leading cause of construction accident deaths in the country. As a result, these injured employees have one of the lowest return to work rates in that industry.

According to Coconut Creek Workers’ Compensation lawyer Evan M. Ostfeld, Esq., Florida Workers’ Compensation laws cover such employees for injuries suffered during the course and scope of their employment. Workers’ Compensation Benefits include payment of  medically necessary care, lost wages and permanent disability benefits. An unscrupulous employer might however mislead someone to believe that if the accident was their own fault, they are not covered. That is simply untrue! Under the Florida’s Workers’ Compensation Act, most claims are allowed regardless of how they happened. In the event of a death, dependent family members of the deceased employee may receive benefits.
