3M Earplug Lawsuits for U.S. Military Personnel

3M, an American multi-national company, develops personal protective and safety equipment for health care facilities, consumers, and the U.S. Military. Unfortunately, they are also the target of litigation for their manufacturing and supplying defective earplugs to the U.S. Government that were used in combat situations between 2003 and 2015. These earplugs, the Combat Arms Earplug or CAEv2, were supposedly created to prevent troops from suffering hearing loss from battlefield conditions in Iraq and Afghanistan. The problem – they did not work! Accordingly, if you suffered hearing loss and or tinnitus (ringing in the ears) after using these 3M dual-ended Combat Arms earplugs while on active duty, please contact the Coral Springs 3M combat ear plug law firm –The Law Offices of Evan M. Ostfeld, P.A. at (866) I SUE YOU (478-3968), (866) BAD RXRX (223-7979), (954) 227-7529, (954) 998-0075 Text in order to learn about your legal rights. They will fight in order to try and recover compensation for your damages.

What is the 3M Combat Arms Earplug Litigation?

3M designed its CAEv2 earplugs with dual ends. Soldiers could choose which side to insert to either block out loud noises while still hearing subtle sounds or to prevent all sound. Regrettably, a defect in 3M’s earplug’s design allowed damaging sounds to enter causing significant hearing loss and or tinnitus. Tinnitus is the ringing, hissing or other noise in the ears that only the sufferer can hear. A person suffering from hearing loss or tinnitus already knows that these conditions do more damage than just to your sense of hearing. Sadly, a majority of servicemen and women afflicted with these conditions are also diagnosed with depression and anxiety.

As a result, thousands of lawsuits have been filed against 3M and its subsidiary, Aearo Technologies for its defective dual-ended Combat Arms earplugs which have been consolidated in the Federal Court for the Northern District of Florida. These actions contend that 3M knew that the earplugs were too short and did not fit properly, allowing them to loosen and become ineffective. In spite of its knowledge, 3M failed to correct their mistake and knowingly sold them to the U.S. Military. As such, a False Claims Act whistleblower lawsuit was filed against 3M on behalf of the U.S. Government. The Department of Justice was then able to secure a settlement against 3M for over $9 million dollars due to their defective dual-ended Combat Arms earplugs. Regretfully, this money was only paid to the government and not to our honorable veterans and service members who actually suffered from their harm. Consequently, the 3M Combat Arms Earplug litigation has been filed on behalf of our proud U.S. military personnel who used them and suffered hearing loss and or tinnitus.
